Africa Group Trip - Ngorongoro, Serengeti & Zanzibar Safari

We leave the bustle of Nairobi behind and head south towards the Tanzanian border. After completing the border formalities, we continue to the bustling city of Arusha, our base for the night. Northern Tanzania is home to the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro, and Kilimanjaro.

Although it is only a short distance to Karatu, we will spend the majority of the day driving closer to the Ngorongoro Crater. Upon arrival in Karatu, our guide will inform us about our overnight excursion to the crater and Serengeti National Park.

We wake up early and are picked up from our camp and taken in 4x4 safari vehicles to the Ngorongoro Crater. We will spend the majority of the day exploring the crater floor in search of the animals that inhabit the plains. In the afternoon, we reach our overnight camp in the Seronera region, which is at the heart of Serengeti National Park. The camp is surrounded by spectacular views and rich wildlife. In the evening, we can enjoy nature, which passes right in front of our Meru-style tents, with a cool drink in hand. Included Highlight: Full-day 4x4 excursion to the Ngorongoro Crater and afternoon drive to Seronera.

This morning we rise early to enjoy our time on a game drive through Serengeti National Park. The park is famous for its rich wildlife. We will spend the majority of the day in search of the animals that live here. In the late afternoon, we return to Karatu and spend the evening reflecting on the last few eventful days. After our stay in Karatu and the Ngorongoro Crater, we get back into our truck and drive back to Arusha.

This morning we set off early heading south to our overnight destination, the coastal city of Bagamoyo. Bagamoyo was once a center of the East African slave trade. Bagamoyo is located north of the port of Dar es Salaam and is an ideal starting point for our upcoming Zanzibar excursion. Today is primarily a travel day where we experience the bustling activity along one of Africa's major travel routes. Street travel in Africa is characterized by busy markets, villages, and scenic landscapes lining the routes, giving an insight into the lifestyle of rural Africa. This evening, we prepare for our Zanzibar excursion, which starts tomorrow morning.

This morning we conclude the short journey to Dar es Salaam and board our ferry for the two-hour journey to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at the ferry terminal, we head towards Nungwi on the north coast of the island. There are a number of excursions that can be arranged, and your guide will assist you with this. Today is yours to freely enjoy some of the many attractions and activities on offer. Water sports are the order of the day, and Nungwi offers fishing, snorkeling, diving, and a variety of marine safari options. Whatever you choose to do today, you will have plenty of opportunities to create island memories. Rent a scooter and explore the many attractions available to you, or simply relax on the beach and enjoy the sun. This morning our visit to Nungwi comes to an end as we head back to Stone Town. Before we arrive there, however, we stop along the way for a spice tour that takes us through villages and spice plantations. Here we will witness spice farmers climbing trees and selecting certain plants. We get to enjoy buying fresh spices directly from the farmers. Included Highlight: Prison Island boat trip/spice tour by foot.

This morning we have some time to explore the sights of Stone Town. The rich history and lively markets are highlights of any visit to Zanzibar. We bid farewell to the island and board our ferry back to Dar es Salaam, where our tour concludes upon arrival.
